If you’ve been visiting the World House Music website, you will have noticed that there has been a jump in the fundraising thermometer!

Last Sunday, June 26, I was privileged to witness and participate in a fund raising concert of Moravian music presented by the Moravian choirs of Ephraim, Sister Bay, and Sturgeon Bay.  The program, held at Ephraim Moravian church, consisted primarily of a Moravian choral classics impressively conducted by Jendean Olson.  A local composer, Peggy Royseck, shared her creative organ arrangements of the hymn “Morning Star,” and a marvelous flute solo was performed by Pamela Johnson. I had the opportunity to engage the congregation in singing a Tanzanian hymn, Njoo kwetu, Roho mwema (Gracious spirit, Heed our Pleading), as well as my arrangement of “Be thou My Vision,” with my lyrics.

The offering collected was $1000.00, the equivalent of the sponsorship of five keys!  In addition, Fox Point Lutheran Church in Fox Point, WI, sponsored two keys, and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Milwaukee sponsored an additional key as well.  With these additional contributions, we have reached $11,544, which is 33% of our goal!

Thank you Moravian Churches of Door County, Fox Point Lutheran and St. Paul Lutheran for your generous support of this project!

Peblejah!
